Basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were unchanged on Wednesday in a quiet market. Protein premiums for rail car wheat to and through Kansas City were unchanged. A winter storm forecast to move into the central US on Thursday was bringing hopes for beneficial moisture.

Egypt, the world's largest wheat importer, has bought 180,000 tonnes of US soft red winter wheat for February 11-20 shipment on a free on board basis, the main government wheat buyer said on Wednesday. Kansas City Board of Trade March wheat futures ended Tuesday at $8.60-1/2.
